Trevor Fung
Trevor Fung is one of the most influential and yet unsung architects of modern dance music. Starting his DJ career at just 16, he quickly built a reputation for his deep knowledge of Soul, Funk and Jazz on both sides of the Atlantic.
In 1983, Trevor was invited to be the resident at the legendary Amnesia in Ibiza, a pivotal experience that shaped his evolving, boundary-crossing sound. Back in the UK, he launched Zigi’s & Project Club alongside fellow resident DJ Carl Cox & Tony Wilson, introducing the then-radical sounds of Detroit and Chicago house music to British dance floors.
By the summer of 1987, Trevor had taken Project to Ibiza, opening a bar in San Antonio where he fused Hip-Hop, Indie, Acid and House into something entirely new. Trevor himself named this sound Balearic Beat, cementing it with his landmark compilation Balearic Beat on FFRR Records. That same year, his nights became a catalyst for a London revolution Danny Rampling, Johnny Walker and Nicky Holloway & Oakenfold all came through Trevor’s doors before going on to launch Shoom, Spectrum, The Future, The Land of Oz and Trip, transforming the UK club scene forever. That same year, Trevor's nights inspired Rampling, Walker, Nicky Holloway and Oakenfold to launch landmark nights including Shoom, Spectrum, The Future & The Trip changing the UK club scene forever.
Trevor went on to play the iconic M25 orbital raves....Sunrise, Energy, World Dance, Biology and held long-term residencies at Rage, Spectrum, Enter the Dragon and Love @ the Wag. He has shared the booth with legends including Frankie Knuckles, Derrick May, DJ Pierre, Danny Krivit, Robert Owens and Greg Wilson.
Today, Trevor continues to tour internationally, record and produce, and play at landmark club nights including Balearic Burger, Shoom, Balearic Beat, Clockwork Orange and Ibiza’s Pikes and many festivals.....Carrying his love for music spirit into its fifth decade.
Away from the dance floor, Trevor is committed to charitable work close to his heart and is now a patron of Discobility a UK based charity that runs authentic nightlife experiences for SEND Adults. Plus he actively raises funds for Last Night A DJ Saved My Life, supporting the charity’s clean water well projects around the world. He has also worked directly with children in Tanzania, teaching studio and DJ skills. He is equally passionate about his ongoing fundraising for the Tibetan Education & Relief Association, supporting Tibetan communities through education and relief efforts.
